It is at these restaurants where I have, on occasion, experienced their Tiramisu, a favorite of my wife’s short list of desserts.

So, I have my short list of the best I have found. This is out of approximately 30 or so italian restaurants in and around Houston.

Let me hear from you and your recommendations for the best.

#1 Tiramisu in Houston belongs to Sorrento Houston on Westheimer. Taste, presentation and size. all perfect!
#2 Tiramisu in Houston belongs to Colosseum Restaurant and Bakery in Clear Lake. Wow. Incredible taste and consistency. Portion size is excellent.

#3 Tiramisu in Houston belongs to Michelangelos on Westheimer. This often overlooked Italian restaurant is one of Houston’s oldest and best. Their Tiramisu is legendary. Great taste, presentation and size. Excellent with a cup of their fresh coffee.

I welcome your feedback!

I enjoy a truly fine dining experience topped off with a visually stunning flambé dessert.

I have had my share of eyebrow singeing, table side prepared delights.

In Houston, there are so many fantastic restaurants that offer flambé experiences, so there is no way I have experienced them all in the last 22 years of living here. I do have a short list of must experience desserts but I also need your recommendations. Please let me know your top three! I will post them.

Here is my short list:

#1. Mont Blanc a la Frisc @ Perry’s Restaurants – “Vanilla ice cream served on a homemade sponge cake with freshly cut strawberries, topped with a flambéed Belgium white chocolate sauce prepared tableside with Bailey’s Irish Cream.”

This is my absolute favorite in Houston. I can only eat a bite but I have never seen any leave the table. Try it, but get a spoon for everyone dining with you.

#2. Nutty d´Angelo @ Perry’s Restaurants -”Crushed pecans flambéed with brown sugar and brandy, served over vanilla ice cream, dipped in white chocolate and toasted almonds.”

I really, really like this dessert as much as #1. Shame it is at the same restaurant, but it is what it is. Perry’s has the magic touch.

#3. Bananas Foster Flambé @ Eddie V’s – A new comer in the Houston Restaurant scene, Eddie V’s spin on an old favorite get’s my vote for taste and presentation.

I will be heading to Brennans to try theirs because I was told it should be on top of my list. Anyone have other suggestions, let me hear from you.

OH, before I go, almost as good as a dessert is the famous Saganaki at Bakkhus Greek restaurant in Kemah.

Steven

First of all, what is Tres Leches???

“Tres Leches means three creams or milks. It is made with three layers: Cake, filling, and topping. There are actually 4 types of milk in the filling and topping (whole milk, condensed milk, evaporated milk, and heavy cream). This is the ultimate dessert cake for cream lovers!”

So far, I have found my favorites in Houston, but the differences between 1, 2 and 3 are so insignificant, they’re almost the same.

My Short List is…….

#1 Ruggles Grill on Westhemier. They get #1 ranking because of excellent presentation, taste and consistancy.

#2 Sorrento Houston – on Westheimer. Their Tres leches is smooth and creamy and is a very, very close second.

#3 Churrascos - Westheimer at Kirby. Their Tres Leches is good, very good. Loaded with cream and flavor.

OK, so here is my challenge. Go on a Tres Leches hunt and comment on where you found the best and why you think it is the best. Just remember, you have to try my top 3 before you pass judgement!

Bon Appetit!
